Dear all, I, James Sky lost a very dear friend today (08/01/10) to that horrible disease emphysema. My friend Peter wasn't that very old really, was a very kind, quiet gentle fellow who really did fight on until the bitter end. I would like to honour his life as he gave so much to me, being a dear friend, a father figure and a true companion. I stand at 35, Peter, 68, yet age knows no barriers when it comes to TRUE friendship. Peter was one of those rare breeds that he made you laugh without even trying. A cheeky chap who even enjoyed his much loved Gin & Tonics even until his last days. For many years I begged him to give up smoking, not that I am against it, but he was already showing signs of slight emphysema back at the beginning of the new Millennium. Famous actress Liz Dawn who played the legendary character Vera Duckworth on the much loved soap Coronation Street, today fights this horrible horrible diease, as do far many other people too. I know this one thing, Peter so deserves to be recognised, just for being him, and that is not a biased opinion! I have never ever met someone so special & unique. He faced many difficulties yet his young at heart nature shone through! :-) If I can raise £2000 a tree will be planted in his name and I will receive a map of where this tree is and a certificate and money will of course go to support the 'British Lung Foundation'. PLEASE try and help as much as you can, even if it is only a quid, (£10 lights a candle). You would certainly help by asking your friends to donate to this worthwhile cause too. This would mean so much to me, truly, to be able to honour his life, as what was his only real friend, his companion, his son figure and in hindsight on some sort of level his partner!
